From the Mountains of Montana to the Streets of London

In 2006, I uprooted my life to London for a Masters at RADA and Kings. This was a means to an end, a path to a coveted PhD in Performance Studies back in the States.

Days go by and I'm still here. That PhD gave way to new friends, marriage, two ridiculous cats and a burgeoning career as a solicitor.

Ah well, life is surprising and this blog is just a slice of what it's like as an American expat in London.

North Pond Grill

Mmmmm...I love finding exciting new places to eat, so I definitely looked forward to trying the North Pond Grill in Chicago's famous Lincoln Park. Delicious, gorgeous, scrumptious, savory, delightful - I run out of words to describe the food. When dining at a nice place, I always try the tasting menu, because those are the Chef's special dishes.

The Seasonal Tasting Menu at North Pond Grill:

Stone Crab, Apple
Chilled Stone Crab Claw and Knuckles, Fall Apples, Shaved Fennel, Cider Syrup

Prawn, Squash
Butter-Basted Spot Prawns, Delicata Squash Puree, Sauteed Spinach, Knob Onion, Carrot Foam

Ricotta, Pear
Warm Sheep's Milk Ricotta Gnocchi, Fresh Pear, Pear Glace, Mizuna, Pecans

Lamb, Beets
Slow-Roasted Lamb Saddle, Buttercup Squash, Red Pepper, Glazed Beet, Braised Red Cabbage, Cipollini Onion

Chocolate, Grape
Chocolate Pudding Cake, Hazelnut-Brown Butter Emulsion, Concord Grape Sorbet, Sable Cookie
